About

Ron and Sue started to move their farm towards a more sustainable organic system in the early 1970s due to salinity in the property’s house dam.

Their farming approach was changed to take into account the inter-relationship between different aspects of the environment. Changes included putting into place a whole new concept of water capture and management and fencing off tracts of natural bush between the paddocks to allow birdlife to move readily all around the property.

Their committment to sustainable agriculture has been recognised with numerous awards including

WA Rural Achiever of the Year, Department of Environment “I Can Do That Award”, UN Global 500 Award, a UN Environment Program Award and a Landcare Individual Award. Ron was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1988.

The farm became certified organic in the late 1990s.
